St. Peter’s Church is a part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, in Region XIII of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia in the Episcopal Church of the United States.
Welcome to our website. We are honored by your visit and want to serve you in whatever ways we can.
I think you'll find that we're enjoying ourselves at St. Pete's as we grow, learn and serve God, each other and the community. We are a family-friendly church with a desire
to share the Good News of what God is doing in the world today. We are energetic and we take seriously our mission of Building Christians for Service.
Our parish is diverse and reflects our changing community: local and regional business people, farmers, homemakers, college students, and those who commute to the Washington Metropolitan
area for work in private industry and the federal government.
As western Loudoun County has grown we have, too. Our congregation is rapidly changing with new faces and families visiting every Sunday. An active church life and lots of social events and
good food bring us together as a community and allow us to meet and serve Jesus Christ in each other, and to grow in our relationship with God.
I’d describe us as Evangelical in our emphasis on personal faith and transformation in Jesus Christ, and in our high view and diligent study of Holy Scripture. We are Catholic in our life
together as a worshipping, believing and serving community of Christians, living in continuity with the ancient Church. We are a fairly traditional, yet very dynamic body of believers with a
hunger to grow in Christ and to help others do the same through evangelism and discipleship. We are Building Christians for Service.
We are a compassionate parish that invites ALL to join us in Building Christians for Service. That
mission implies a destination, to "grow into the full stature of Christ," as we say in Baptism. And
the common path we walk in reaching it are the simple, ancient disciplines of the spiritual life: learning Holy Scripture, developing a lifestyle of personal prayer and corporate worship, living
in community, working in ministry, serving with compassion, sharing the faith and offering our lives in stewardship.
St. Peter's is a church that's on a roll. We have a great community of Christians here with great
leaders and a great growing tide of fun and generosity and momentum in pursuit of our vision.
We have liberal and conservative people at St. Peter's. In my experience the liberals are generally pretty conservative and many of the conservatives are fairly liberal. We seek to keep
that balance. As tired as I sometimes am of obligatory "celebrations of diversity," I do love the
diversity of our parish. We help each other with our blind spots and we pick up each other's slack as we serve Christ together. St. Peter's is a healthy and balanced parish because of the
faithful presence and input of all our people.
In the midst of the struggles wracking the Episcopal Church we will walk the ancient Christian path. We will seek God’s deliverance from cultural captivity and be faithful to the catholic
consensus of the apostolic faith, and be accountable to the high standards of that consensus.
We will proclaim the good news that Jesus is risen. He is Israel’s Messiah, the world's true King. Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess.
“To the poor he preached the good news of salvation; to prisoners, freedom; to the sorrowful, joy. To fulfill God’s purpose he gave himself up to death, and rising from the dead, destroyed
death and made the whole creation new” (Prayer D, BCP 374).
